“We used Kate Emily Photography to take photographs of our two dogs having fun in the woods. Kate captured their unique characters beautifully, so sharp and artistically vibrant. We absolutely love them. We fully recommend Kate, making us and our dogs feel totally relaxed and now have beautiful memories to keep.”
But I’m concerned that…
“My dog is reactive, they won’t be comfortable”
My own dog was a reactive soul but in his photos you wouldn’t have known it! I specialise in reading dog body language and tailor the entire experience to ensure your dog is content.
“My dog is fiercely independent, they won’t even sit!”
Your dog doesn’t need to be a master of obedience to look fabulous. I pride myself on capturing their personalities and I can snap a shot in a split second of beauty or track a hunting hound to showcase their joys.
“My dog can’t be let off lead, I won’t be able to get good photos”
Leads can always be edited out, collars and harnesses can be too! Longlines are perfect for action shots, so you won’t even miss out on those. Safety is my top concern. Through my editing skills, your art won’t be compromised.
Every session is designed with your dog in mind and I pride myself on delivering a personal and meaningful snapshot of their lives that you can treasure for years to come.
Kit
“I was fortunate enough to find Kate Emily online, and have now had three fabulous photoshoots for my Bernese mountain dog cross poodle, Kit. We’ve had two urban shoots and one twilight bluebell shoot in my local woods. Katherine has a wonderful, amenable approach with relaxed sessions allowing us to really see all of Kit’s character in the resulting photos. Kit is not the kind of dog to sit still, and I’ve been so impressed with the expressive shots that truly capture the moments we shared. I love how Katherine sees the beauty in nature and architecture that I would otherwise miss, and how she aims her camera so that the light strikes just right. I’m really looking forward to soon framing the pictures and putting them up on my walls to treasure forever.”
Sessions
Natural Beauty - Fine Art
If you think your furry friend looks most at home leaping over logs, racing through rivers or sniffing for scents then this session is for you.
In this session you will be invited to join me at a carefully chosen location oozing with natural goodness where both you and your dog can stretch your legs between striking a pose. Bring wellies!
The City Slicker - Fine Art
Some dogs prefer the hustle and bustle of cities, dipping into lush parks before strutting their stuff about town. They see our urban environment from a different angle and in the 'City Slicker' session you will be invited through photography to see the world as they do.
In this session you will join me in the beautiful towns of Leamington Spa or Warwick. Other locations can be arranged!
Lifestyle - Beloved Moments
Lifestyle photography differs from fine art not in the quality, but in the finish. Perfect for candid family portraits, working dogs, or story telling walks, the results are often brighter and closer to the natural environment.
In this session I will work to the story you want on your walls. It could be showcasing working prowess, celebrating service dogs at work, or capturing a favourite walk.
Events
If you have an animal based event planned and are in need of a photographer, my competitive rates and intuitive compositions will exemplify what you are showcasing. On top of that, any charity event I am involved with I will also donate a portion of my profits to that chosen charity!

The Process
Step One: A Consultation
Here I will get to know you and what you are looking forward to achieving in the session, and importantly I learn about your dog. This is your chance to let me know of any quirks and considerations, alongside how you would best describe their personality. This all forms the basis of my session plan and ensures you get the images that you want.
Step Two: A Portrait Session
Now we will venture out to our chosen location and have a fantastic time capturing your dog in their element. The aim of the portrait session is to keep your dog happy and engaged so treats, toys and tlc are encouraged! Afterwards you and your dog can sit back and snooze while I get to work cultivating your gallery.
Step Three: The Online Viewing Gallery
From the comfort of your own home you will be able to view the gallery images from the session. These will be lightly edited to give you an impression of the final images but won’t be the final piece. Once your chosen images are purchased you can sit back and wait for the final step!
Step Four: The Reveal
The last and most exciting step - the final reveal! All of your chosen images will be available for you to download where you are free to share, print or view them to your heart’s content.

About Kate
A little about me
Hi, I’m Kate, an outdoor pet photographer based in Leamington Spa, with a passion for capturing moments on camera. I’m a dog obsessive and knowledgeable in force free dog training and behavioural adjustment therapy (BAT) and with TTouch techniques.
I am used to handling reactive dogs and have a deep understanding of triggers and spoons (if you know, you know!) I thrive on working with your dog to get the best out of them.
With a borrowed old DSLR camera in hand I began my photography journey capturing the smiles of my beautiful German Spitz, Merlin. Because of his reactivity we were limited in what we could do, but he truly loved being in front of my camera. The combination of exploring new places and looking fabulous for cheesey snacks relaxed him, and the focussed training in waiting and staying helped ease his anxiety.
The beginnings of Kate Emily Photography
With some gorgeous images of Merlin under my belt I set about photographing other people’s dogs. After every session I heard stories of sleepy, contented pooches dreaming the days away while I got to work delivering the joyful images to my clients.
After receiving my first international badge I decided to turn my obsession into a business. With the bluebells in full bloom I launched with extremely popular bluebell mini sessions.
My motivations
Sadly during first Bluebell Mini Sessions Merlin passed away to acute liver failure and surgery complications. He was born with a smaller than average liver and despite careful management this caught up to him at just 8 years old.
After his passing I couldn’t pick up my camera again, it felt like a betrayal because it was something we did together. But as the months went by the photos I had of him on my wall started to bring me more smiles than sadness because they reminded me of what a happy little boy he was. It was then I realised that photographing dogs wasn’t a betrayal, it was a celebration.
I then decided to enter my favourite image of him into the international WPEAwards. I loved it, and I wondered if others would too. Late one evening I saw that not only had Merlin received a gold standard, but he had come first place. I firmly believe this was down to his personality shining through and it changed my entire approach to photography.
I picked up my camera again with a new goal. I wanted to capture the essence of the dog, who they are, what they love, and how you see them. it’s not just art - it’s timeless memories. Now I focus on learning all about your dog before I even meet them so I can tailor my sessions to create art that will make you smile time and time again.

Your dog doesn’t need to know sit, stay, or any commands at all to get beautiful one of a kind artwork. I pride myself on being able to work with the dog before me, and you’ll often find me grabbing their attention with all sorts of strange noises to get ‘the shot’.
Leads can always be edited out of an image, and collars and harnesses can be too!
-
Absolutely! I relish the opportunity to work with reactive dogs and learn their triggers and anxieties before the session. We will choose the location and environment to ensure your dog is comfortable, taking time for sniffy breaks or calming walks where needed.
I also don’t need to approach you or your dog at all! We can do the whole session at their tolerance and the entire time they will be rewarded just for being fabulous.
-
I can often spot behaviour before it happens and a good chunk of mischief can happen from frustration and tiredness. We will work with your dog to ensure they remain content, switching things up as often or as little as needs be.
-
Yes! I have locations that I knew well and can recommend, but I will always work with what you envision.
-
Yes I do! If you are wanting specific images with you and your family included we can ensure we set things up to achieve our goals.
-
Weather is always a variable in outdoor photography and it is important to have flexibility. If we need to rearrange the session due to weather this will be done at the earliest possible notice. I can shoot in all but heavy rain, but I am also aware that some dogs sulk a little in rain so I am happy to ensure we have contented dogs.
